I used a very helpful and conscise guide which can be found here. Once Handbrake was up and running, i knew that i needed to get the settings exactly right otherwise the PSP would not recognise it. e-systems/ so many thanks to LinuxG for that. I used the following guide to install a fully featured version of Handbrake. Therefore I installed the most up-to-date version of Handbrake from an unofficial repository, which, to be honest i was very reluctant to do, as last time i used an unofficial repo my system was ruined after the next scheduled update. The major problem for new users with Qiana is that the Official Repository version of Handbrake (as far as i know) only generates MKVs, and these are not supported by official PSP firmware (and never will be). The best utility for achieving this is Handbrake. I would also be grateful if anyone can answer some perpheral questions which have arising from the means of the solution: I have solved this issue, and i wanted to share the solution. I feel i may be missing some very obvious feature of Qiana but at the same time i am really missing the 'just works' aspect of K9Copy. I have searched and searched but cannot find an up-to-date article on this very specific problem. This will be straightforward but i do not know which format VLC should rip to to ensure a good MP4 end product - avi was perfect - absolutely beautiful widescreen playback on the PSP. Linux Mint is great and i really want it to be able to do everything i want it to.Īnother way i could go is to use VLC for the initial rip and then use Avidemux for the transcode. I have a windows 7 laptop which i could have a go with but am really keen to stick with open source and find a solution for this. Ideally, i would like a solution to get K9Copy running in this instance of Mint but it seems very tricky for a noob to achieve.Īlternatively, i could use a different programme but am obviously not having much joy with it. VLC - does not offer AVI - PSP encode option does not work - direct transcode to MP4 does not play in Avidemux. I am having trouble with finding a replacement for K9Copy to transfer the DVD to an AVI. I have previously used K9Copy and Avidemux with excellent results. I can do the transcode in Avidemux with no problems. The PSP is very fussy about file formats it will play. I am trying to take titles from a DVD and transcode in to MP4 for playback on a PSP. # Updated Avisynth Proxy GUI to version 2.12.Grateful for some help.
